Hello
« on: January 24, 2013, 02:57:42 PM »
Hi. Just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm new to the forum. After many weeks of searching I have finally booked our holiday to Kalkan in July! So excited as it looks fabulous! Any helpful tips/hint of places to see, good restaurants etc will be gratefully received.
Diane  :)

Hi Dianekh,

Welcome to the forum. You will love love love Kalkan.July will be very hot so dont plan too many trips to see ruins....you will fry.
For sunbathing, you have the town beach, pebbly but very nice and safe.Patara beach is not far and Kaputas beach,on the Kas road is lovely...all worth visiting.
There are many fantastic beach clubs in Kalkan too.
Restaurants are everywhere, both in the town and by the harbour, and prices vary according to location.
Our personal favourites are Alternatif and Agora, both mid priced but the service and food quality are very high....both excellent for steak.Enjoy !!

Thanks for your reply. We went to Gocek last July and didn't do a great deal because of the heat! I'm happy lazing by the pool or at the beach or doing a boat trip. Looking forward to sampling the food, I've not read a bad restaurant review really.  Can't wait!  :)

We love Gocek but I think you will find Kalkan has more to offer if you are staying for more than a few days but beware, it is very addictive.

We loved Gocek but this year we fancied a slightly busier resort and Kalkan seems to tick all the boxes! I'm already counting down the days  :)

Kalkan beats Gocek hands down...the extra distance from the airport is worth it...you will see! ;)
