Tenerife ??
« on: September 27, 2012, 04:35:11 PM »
Thinking about a December (pre Xmas) week in Tenerife.

We've never been there before (but have been to Lanzarote & Fuerteventura).

I know it's not like Kalkan, but anyone who loves Kalkan & can give a recommendation is likely to hit the spot with our taste!

I'm leaning towards Puerto de La Cruz & I deffo don't want to go to Playa de Las Americas or Los Cristianos!   ;D

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Sally

The weather in the north tends to be more cloudy in the north than the south but I am very fond of Puerto de la Cruz and would choose it over other resorts such as those you mention.  Puerto is more Canarian, and has a mix of nationalities visiting the area, whereas it's totally dominated by Brits in the south.  I love the landscape, ocean and views of the mountain in Puerto - December is also a very colourful time of year to visit with all the poinsettia plans in flower. As you say, Kalkan it certainly isn't but it's nice to feel some winter sunshine on your face!

I've been in hotels and one or two different apartments. It's a few years since I've been to stay so can't really recommend anywhere particular based on recent experience.  All of the areas within walking distance of the town are pleasant.  La Paz area is nice if you don't mind going uphill a bit.
