Help wanted please....
« on: September 01, 2012, 08:46:07 PM »
Hi all, looking to visit for the first time next May, around the 20th. Will the weather be ok? Also, just scouring for apartment rental, difficult to choose as i don't know the area. Is the Patara Prince Resort in a good location? If not, could somone give me some guidance please?

Thanks in advance!

If you look at the logo picture for EnjoyKalkan above, the Patara Prince complex is under the "KAN"!!!

Normally, that time in May is comfortably warm and getting better every day. However, this year while the first week of May was great, most of the rest of the month was not very good at all.
The Patara Prince is situated in Kisla which is away from the village itself.
There - over there, there are.            To - Going to

Hi Welshgal

I've stayed in a few different central apartments and it does make a difference to be close to everything.  Owners Direct is a very good website and you can always ask the owners to describe where their apartment is in relation to one or two landmarks.  It's difficult to recommend without knowing how many people/bedrooms you're looking for.  Weather in May usually starts warming up around the third week in May so sometime around the 20th should be lovely.

If you want central location and small apartment have a look at The Custom House its on owners direct and fab (I dont own it by the way).2 minutes to the beach and very near the restaurants but not a noisey location and road closed to traffic in the evenings/night during the summer.

If there are just two of you then there's usually quite a lot of apartments to choose from at the Mediterranean next to the Samira Garden hotel - great location and some with fab sea or mountain views.  You can usually tell if an apartment is on this complex if it is described as having access to five shared pools.  However, it's all privately owned property of a high standard - you can't go wrong.  Korsan apartments are close by and also very nice, with friendly helpful staff on site.  I have stayed at others and haven't been disappointed with any that I've chosen so if you have a shortlist and want to ask anything then please send me a private message.  I'm not an owner but am an avid renter! There are so many to choose from so you won't have a problem.

You could also try www.ownersdirect.co.uk  as reygirl says.....country choice turkey..then enter mediterranean as region choice..then Kalkan as town then enter old town as next selection...all these are or should be near center..ask away if you find something someone will know ;)

Thanks all, you've been so helpful! Have found some really nice places, just one more question, is it possible to find somewhere central with sea views?

Emir apartments are fairly central and have great views, plus some of the Med apartments have spectacular views - go for one of the penthouse apartments in both complexes for the better views. Truffle are very central but the penthouse apartments (with the views) are 3 bedroom which might be too big for the two of you.
When we travel as a couple we always go for a 2 bedroom - one acts as a holding area for clothes and cases :)
If you like the look of a place and want to know where it is, just shout up. Don't rule out Komurluk - best views in Kalkan in my opinion and only a 15 min (mostly flat) walk to town.
Good luck ;)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

The two bedroomed Truffle apartments also have great views from the upper floor and most of the Mediterranean apartments have views and are very central.
