I have just had the most enjoyable, tasty, home made, simple, non fussy, very reasonably priced, truly Turkish meal and most enjoyable Turkish experience.
This all took place not in Kalkan, but very close to it. In Akbel! I have been their when the market is on, but never really paid it much attention. I must recommend the local Lokanta, its the same set up as Ali Baba's in Kalkan,(the one near the PTT) only smaller and better. All home made, tasty authentic Turkish food. After the three of us filled our boots there, for less than 20 lira. I popped over to the bakery to get some fresh bread for the morning, only to be asked to join the staff bbq, six chicken pieces later, I was allowed to leave. Go have a look sometime, leave the usual Kalkan places, go to where the Turks eat. Where the people are really genuine and you are treated just like anyone else.
