Change of Onur Flights
« on: March 03, 2010, 01:52:04 AM »
Hi Everyone

Just been informed our flights have changed from Onur Air (OHY code) to a CAI code
Anyone any idea who this carrier is?

Thanks

I would certainly suggest that anyone flying with these people check their flights before travelling as they changed our flights to Pegasus when we flew out for NY. But decided not to tell us, we only found out when we arrived at the airport and noticed that there were no OYH flights on the monitor, not a situation that I want go through again

Our Manchester to Dalaman flight on 24 April has also been changed to Correndon. I believe from another forum that they are a Turkish budget airline company who mainly fly Turkey to Amsterdam and Germany. the coments from those who had used them was that they were ok. We'll see!
I believe that quite a number of flights from their winter schedule have been moved to other carriers.

We had our Christmas/New Year flights changed to Pegasus & arrival diverted to Bodrum from Dalaman, what with the weather delays (snowing) we were travelling for 22hrs by the time we arrrived at our house in Kalkan.  Have had to cancel & rebook with another airline for April as we were informed that yet again our flights were changed to another airline together with the dates which were not suitable.  No compensation, & both these flights were booked early 2009 & of course its cost us extra.
So not sure what is happening to ONUR.

My Easter flights have also been changed by Onur air and they have removed my baggage allowance from the first booking  ( May last year) and now I have to pay. Thankfully only going one way with them and coming back with TC.
Cross hire is to CAI aswell :-\

Are you sure you have to pay for your baggage? When I rang and said that it said no baggage on the new invoice that they have just sent me they said that message was printed on all of them but my baggage was booked and included.

Corendon were mentioned on the BBC News this morning, (Spookey) didn't catch all of it but something to do with one of their pilots - also stated that the company were a "Turkish Budget Airline, based in Ankara. Amsterdam was also mentioned

BevJam I have just contacted Aegeanflights via their website and they have sent me a new invoice that shows baggage is included. It actually says it isn't but then shows that it has been paid for in the costings section.

Just found out what the BBC item was. I have taken the story below from another website.

'A pilot has been arrested at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport for flying passenger planes for 13 years with a false license.
The 41-year-old Swede was in the cockpit of a Corendon Airlines Boeing 737 about to take off for Ankara with 101 passengers on board when the Dutch police arrested him after a tip from the Swedish authorities.
The Turkish low-budget airline was informed in advance and had a second pilot lined up to take over the flight. The fake pilot says he has been flying for 13 years on a false license and had spent at least 10,000 hours flying hours in the cockpit. He had worked for airlines in Belgium, Great Britain and Italy.
Once arrested, he appeared relieved that his deception had come to light and immediately removed his stripes. The man did have a pilot’s licence, but it was not valid for passenger aircraft, so he had falsified it.'

That's really restored my confidence in the airline we will be flying with in 7 weeks!

Thanks for the heads up I'll email them now and sort it out. I don't normally bother with luggage but as it was Easter thought I'd take stuff out and come back empty handed. :D

He'd flown with other airlines for 11 years before Corendon so he may have been the pilot of our plane previously!

I was notified of a change of airline for my flight from Gatwick in May. We are now flying out with Pegasus but still appear to be with Onur coming back in June. The flight timing has changed too, and we will get a whole 55 minutes extra holiday. (If it's on time of course.) Hurrah!

EKAdmin- you may not have to bother as things are going.........................

Will say one thing for ONUR, up until Christmas have never had any other problems, in fact would have recommended, but twice within a short time span makes one think.
