Reporting from Kalkan
« on: September 26, 2010, 02:15:19 PM »
:) A big "Hello" to all,

We arrived yesterday (25th) at 3pm local time, after a good flight.
The transfer this year was calm and safe (unlike last years, which was like being in a roller-coaster at 100 mph  :o )
We arrived at the Hotel at 6.30 and after unpacking ,we had our first, long-awaited, ice-cold Efes at the bar. Oh! how we enjoyed it, watching the waves and looking at the lights in the Town starting to twinkle. It was very humid, but beautifully warm and we took the 10 minute walk along the coastal path to the harbour.
So wonderful to be back, everywhere looking great, friendly faces, good smells, the usual gentle banter with the folk outside the eateries, plying their trade.
We headed straight for Kleo and sat overlooking the beach. Can you picture this: Two glasses of freezing Efes, a big bowl of salted popcorn, the soft buzz of muted conversations and laughter, the light fading fast and the Moon and Jupiter shining brilliantly. Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross" being played at just the right volume (Kleo have one of the best play lists ever!)
My OH leaned back in his sofa and said "It just doesn't get better than this does it?"  :)
We were enjoying Kleo so much, we nearly had to tear ourselves away for dinner, which we had next door in Seaport, so we could get straight back to Kleo.
There were a fair few people lying down and chilling out on the sun-beds on the beach in the dark, listening to the waves nudging the pebbles.
Even though we'd been up since 5am, we stayed quite late, because it felt so good there. Looking forward to a return this evening.
We spent today lounging on the Turkish beds in one of the palm roofed "cubicles" at the Hotel, watching the waves and swimming occasionally. It's quite choppy and windy today, but still hot and pleasant.

Today is our 30th Anniversary and what nicer place to celebrate?  :) :) :) :)

I'll be back with another taste of this little bit of paradise tomorrow xx

Hi Kefgirl
Happy 30th Anniversary - great that you are able to celebrate in such a lovely setting.

Hope you both have a wonderful holiday. Not long for us now ... like Joan, I'm hoping the forecasted dodgy weather is but a myth in the minds of the weathermen / ladies.

:)
