Just back from Kalkan,had a great time even with earache!

Stayed in a beautiful villa on kalamar road,found the walk into town in the evening fine,got a taxi back 8tl.Unfortunatly the villa we stayed in is already booked for next year

!
Had great evening meals,didnt really have a bad meal but favourites were Korsan Kebap,The Nar and Doy Doy.Next year I am determined to try out some of the places we walked straight past each evening like BBq and Kaya?

Must recommend Captain Abdi's boat trip on his new boat Pinar X,lovely day out,great lunch,great captain!

Enjoyed Kalamar beach club although it is a little pricey,tried Palm Beach which was nice too and cheaper!

Did a trip to Patara,found the town very run down but lovely beach where a sunbed was 3tl and umbrellas 4tl a lot cheaper than Kalamar Beach Club! Day trip to Kapatus and Saklikent enjoyed by the rest of our family,I was unfortunately too ill to go but I had been before .

Loved wandering round the shops in the evening but found the market too hot!

Did feel that Kalkan in general was much quieter than on our previous visit 3 years ago.

A lovely holiday,cant wait to go back especially as I missed out on some of mine!

Well done, Jane, and thanks for taking the time to report back. It's always good to hear what others think, what they get up to and I enjoyed reading it.
I know what you mean about the market - our first visit was best when we were out of there by just after 9am!

thanks also for your thoughts - going out in 2 and half weeks never been before and all the reports are really informative.

so are all the other posts on this site - never been so well informed about a place I'm going to visit for the first time before!!!

Wonder what my thoughts will be when I return?

I was the same. In some ways I thought I'd found out too much and was worried there would be no surprises! But as helpful as the posts are, nothing can prepare you for the feelings you experience when you're out there. Sure you will have a lovely time and will have your own unique experience of Kalkan.

glad you still enjoyed it even with earache.....anyone going to market we always say go early..we are normally coming out as other people are going in...added bonus is the the restaurants are empty for brekkie before they fill up at late morning/ lunchtime

We found going at lunchtime was quite quiet - cos everyone else had left to go and eat!

we go early because of the heat of lunchtime...try it ,you'll like it...go to night nights early the night before and go with a clear head...then you won't be tempted to buy "that t shirt" that never gets worn and ends up in the charity bag!!

Feel the same as Anne41 about the advance information.
We're going on 5th Oct and I feel really prepared, (as well as excited!)

It's a standard Avatar from Avatar library attached to many sites.....if you had seen it on the site that includes custard and marigold gloves i would have been worried!!

Yes BL I have seen it too,but I cant remember which site.I think it may have been Lakeland Kitchen equipment !!!!
