A sad fairwell to Kalkan
« on: June 23, 2014, 06:31:10 AM »
It is I, One Sheet

Unfortunately, we have had cut our holiday short and fly back to the UK a week early.

Our father was taken ill last week and deteriorated to such a point that we booked flights home early Sunday afternoon. He passed away at 8.30 pm local time and we therefore didn't get back in time to be with him.

Kalkan holds many great memories for us. The people, the scenery and of course the wonderful food will stay with us for a long time, but to return to Kalkan would remind us of the times spent on the phone and on FaceTime taking to relatives sitting by his bedside.

Maybe one day we will return when enough time has passed.

Regards

Such sad news, a similar thing happened to me when we were on holiday in Tuscany a number of years ago. We left to come home early but sadly my mum died a few hours before we got home. I can completely understand how places can hold memories.
My thoughts are with you and Lynne and hope that one day you will feel strong enough to return to the place you love.

My sincere condolences, sad indeed that Kalkan will be a place to remind you of your loss.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Such sad news, thankfully when we had that dreadful call that my Dad was suddenly dying we were only a few hours away at our caravan but I can honestly say I've never moved as fast in my life, dread to think what we were doing on the motorway, thank goodness it was nighttime.  We got there in time although he was unconscious, can't imagine what it must be like to be so far away and feeling hepless. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

I am so very very sorry for your loss. I lost my lovely mummy who died unexpected while I was in Gran Canaria 2 years ago, so I can appreciate the shock and pain you must be going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope over time, you will feel able to return to Kalkan - a place you clearly love very much. God bless.

So sad for you lost both my parents able to be with Mom but not Dad and was devastated, Then last year my husband had a heart attack whilst we were in Kalkan well documented at the time but the love and support from everyone really helped. I remember driving away from Kalkan looking at that view and thinking I would never return wouldnt want to. But nearly a year on things are a lot better and guess what we're returning to Kalkan this September. So when you're ready its alright Kalkan will help not hinder.

What a terrible way to end a holiday :( :(
I'm so sorry for your loss and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Thank you for all your lovely words of support , but I don't think you will here from us for a while . I can't look at the forecast without sadness .
We were in Moussaka's when the news arrived and the boys there were amazing I can't praise them enough .
Lynne xx
