Taking Furniture to Kalkan
« on: August 31, 2013, 10:49:01 AM »
Hi everyone,

We have a property in Kalkan. We want to take two "steamer chairs"...(wooden sunbeds really) to Kalkan.Someone has said that you need to have a residency permit ( Ikamet ) to bring furniture into Turkey, via Dalaman and if you enter turkey on a tourist visa, you are not allowed to bring in furniture.

We are not residents and are concerned that the chairs may be confiscated at Dalaman which we dont obviously want.

Does anyone have any advice for me,or experience of doing this kind of thing?

Hi Mayday
Few years ago took over 2 lafuma reclining chairs to our apartment via Dalaman. ( had a bit of a laugh @ Gatwick when checked them in, told the check in girl we were fed up with Germans getting all the best sun loungers !!!).
We did get stopped by the guy @ customs who asked us what they were, just explained and he waved us through, also took out a Webber BBQ last year same thing happened.

Hi JCAC,

Thanks for the reply. We are heading out on the 14th October. We are taking one of the two steamer chairs we have to take.We are taking the other one in May,if we get through ok with the first one.We are hoping customs man may be asleep, but failing that, that he waves us through as well............Not long now before we are able to find out !! We will report back, once in Kalkan.
