Lots of Questions
« on: March 11, 2011, 09:16:12 PM »
We are coming over in 4 weeks time to do some work on our villa. Including:

    installing Telephone, Internet and WiFi

putting in a bath shower screen

changing the existing shower to a thermostatic one

installing a flat screen HD TV

getting new cushions made for two sofas

I would appreciate any advice on the best places to buy all of the above, especially websites where we can research the TV, bathroom shower unit/screen, and also the best place to go to have a new set of sofa cushions made

Regards

Alan

Probably the best place to look for electricals and you can see the prices online. They are in the new parade of shops at the front of Fethiye Otogar, (not sure what the road is called but, it is the one that goes to Hisaronu and Olu Deniz).

If you go down to the roundabout and turn left along the main road towards the city centre, there are several bathroom shops on both sides of that road. All are before you reach the Tuesday market site on the right, (next set of lights after Migros turning).
There - over there, there are.            To - Going to
Their - belongs to them.                     Too - In addition, Also
They're - Short for they are.

Pedant! me?

Buy your T.V. here and take it out with you. It will cost you twice as much in Kalkan.

Actually, no! I bought a 22" LG from Technosa in Fethiye last May for £225. In the UK they were about £40 less. Admittedly buying one in Kalkan was a lot more, but then, isn't everything?
You also have to consider packing it up so that the baggage handlers can't damage it or, carrying it (max19"screen) in your hand baggage and risk someone cramming their stuff on top of it.
Anyway, look at the website I posted in previous reply and see what they have and compare with UK prices.

We found the telephone and Wi-Fi was very easily sorted by Recep at Mavi Bilsagar (spelling sorry!) top floor opposite the taxi rank - very helpful man.

But be aware that a foreigner, without permanent residency, can't open and register phone/wifi accounts in their own name. It would have to be done in a Turkish name.

how did you manage this without residency? is it in his name?
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

The account is in Receps name but we pay the bills via direct debit from DenizBank to Turk Telekom and TTNET. They even email us monthly bills :)

wow! yet another example of a Turkish person's good nature, would he be likely to do this for any of us? Could you imagine an English person allowing an account to be set up in their name on behalf of another person who might then regenege on payment?
