Is this the end of rentals in Turkey ?

I can't say there is a parallel, but I've read that Turkey has kept an eye on tourism development in Spain. And in Spain the hotel associations (and disgruntled city residents in Barcelona) have forced the same sort of onerous rules on private owners who rent out.  Not at a huge cost but with a lot of restrictions and an obligation to get a license and have the property inspected and rated and upgraded to a specific electrical rating level.  Plenty of things to discourage owners from renting their apartments and villas in favor of hotels that are losing too much business.  For this reason, we took our Marbella apartment off the rental market. Will probably do the same for our Kalkan property.

I have had a number of discussions with many other owners and property agents about this subject.  My best advice is - wait a bit longer. Please note the author of the article and question whether he has a vested interest. Also, please look at the significant disclaimer from Fethiye Times at the foot of it.

As I see it, there are three possibilities:

a) The article is correct in parts but has some factual errors, in which case it may not be quite as bleak as it sounds but some people will be trying to make money out of it

b) The article is completely correct, in which case there will be people looking to make money out of it (AND some people who will be trying to find a genuine workable solution, such as owners' co-operatives and shell companies)

c) the article is a load of baloney, in which case some unscrupulous people will still be trying to make some money out of it.

From my reading, I don't think it's c), but I could be wrong.

However, I know that John at KTLN is seeking some INDEPENDENT verification of these claims and knowing John as I do, he will only report when he has the facts.

Let's wait and see. Don't panic, Mr Mainwaring!!

Try looking into renting long term as a lot of people are looking for !/2 year rental of apartment's
