We have woken today the 19th of May to the sound of Rock breaking machines up above us on the same building line as La Vanta the new resort they are building overlooking the bay.

We have family staying with us at the moment and we had persuaded them to come out for two weeks holiday to a supposedly tranquil villa in an olive grove in Kalamar Bay.

In their first week they have not been able to spend one day relaxing around our pool because of the constant sound of building work and rock breaking.

Thank goodness their not paying guests because I would have had to give them their money back.

My family have suggested that we all meet up and holiday in France next year as in their words ‘’ It  cost a lot less to fly to and you are guaranteed peace and quite’’

How many tourists staying in the Kalamar Bay area are forming the same opinion?

Hi Buster we also live in Kalmar and didn''t hear much at all - but as the place is like an amphitheatre some noises you hear whilst the street above gets nothing
Although work should have ceased by the 16 th you always get dribs and drabs until they finish or someone complains and stops them
But having said that you also get people arriving who start to do maintenance work, which is allowed and is sometimes worse than the constructors
But always remember that this is Turkey and not the UK and things are not always as they should be - which in a way is part of the charm of living here
So have another G & T and Insallah all will be quiet - maybe :D

Hi Kevincat99 and John the Feds.

The rock breaker is working to the left of the La Vanta site, above the new road.

I am not sure what he is excavating could be a new access road or base for a new villa.

I think you are right the sound is bouncing of the hillside behind him and then reverberating to our side of the valley, It may be that in some areas of Kalamar Bay it can’t be heard.

I do not have a car so I can’t drive up there and thank him for ruining my sons holiday.

And just as an aside I have always thought the JCB Earth Mover  was in a different class to the Volvo Oke Koke 5000.

NB:   The Kartin Supermarket  sells earplugs.

Regards Buster
