Yesterday (Thursday 5th Jan) Kalkan belediye gave out an announcement warning of violent storms and incredibly high winds which are expected to start about midday today. So if you are in Kalkan button down your hatches a prepare for a Stormy night!!!

Hi Saskia, Thanks for the warning. Hatches are on ships and they are batterned down, they wouldn't stay watertight for very long if you just used buttons.

Hope everyone in Kalkan escapes unscathed!!..we in blighty(south coast) have been battered by 70/80 mph gusts for 2 days..today is blue sky and calm ..And B&Q and Wickes have run out of bloody fence panels!!

102 MPH recorded 15 minutes away from us

lost some tiles from door canopy and my wheelie bin emptied its contents all over the street. To be honest I got off very lightly. House across road from me had it's conservatory roof ripped off and several trees uprooted along the street.

The rain has started! Will be pouring down the streets in no time at all.Plenty of buckets and mops will be utilised in Kalkan tonight!

A bit of rain and wind but nothing to bad as yet ! albeit, the sea looks a tad rough this morning. Cant see
any fishing boats out so far this morning either $:-\$ If it does get lively later im off down the harbour to watch...its something I have always wanted to see

Last time i saw something on a broomstick flying over kalkan it turned out to be the mother in law,if it goes dark and Bats start filling the skies it's her!!
