« on: February 16, 2010, 05:43:24 AM »
hi all,
has anybody out there used their sat nav with Turkish mapping ?
tom tom have now got turkey available to buy as an addition to your existing sat nav .
just wondered whether its worth investing in the upgrade- £40 via PC download.
look forward to your comments

A friend of mine bought the system before his visit here last October.
He first doubted its usefulness when it lead him onto a cart track about 5KM out of Dalaman airport necessitating a 10 km detour.
His view was that for this area it was pretty useless - buy a good road map or the Turkish equivalent of the AA road map book - very detailed & very good - lists even small villages

Kev,
thanks for the advise .
been coming to our own place in kalkan and driving about for the past 6- 7 years, have always used the maps if going to unfamiliar territory.
thought the tom tom sat nav might have been a good addition , never mind back to the good old maps eh !

thanks again Kev

regards

Steve

We bought the Turkish TomTom map last year and considder it to be rather useless around Kalkan. It just shows the major roads (to Kas and Fethiye) but no details of roads in Kalkan and Kas. Fethiye and Antalya are detailed very well although street finding is difficult. We will be in Kalkan from 6 March until end of May and you are welcome to see the detail yourself. Please send me a PM to receive my address/phone details.

Regards,
Dick
