Safe Deposit Boxes

I am staying in a villa near the Regency in September. The villa has no safe deposit facilities and I would welcome any suggestions as to where I might be able to rent a safe deposit box nearby for 2 weeks.

From memory, I think the PTT has some, although I'm not sure if they are for short-term lets. We always find unlikely spots to keep valuables and cash when we stay somewhere without a safe - spread around so if burgalars find one stash, they dont get everything. It has worked for us for the past 5 years.

The post office has rentable mail boxes (PO boxes) but I am not aware of any safe deposit boxes for rent anywhere.  Those that are sometimes installed in villas should not be used as even the strongest of them bolted into the floor have been cracked open.

Best is not to bring valuables and stash passports, phones and computers in hiding places ... or sleep on them.  Use credit cards as much as possible too avoid carrying large amounts of cash.

Dozza, why not ask your villa owners about security. The owners of the villa we stayed in earlier this year had deliberately not installed safes. There were grills on the first floor windows and terrace doors and there was an alarm.......we only set it off twice while we were there!
