Return visit
« on: March 29, 2011, 10:50:09 PM »
Hello all. We are coming back to Kalkan after a 3 year gap. On our first visit we were not troubled by dogs, mozzies or noise. Reading some things on this and other forums is slightly concerning. Should we be worried-especially about break-ins. If there is anything to put people off visiting this lovely place robbery must be top of the list. It would be nice to have some feedback on this. Roll on August.
Thanks,Philpot.

I am sure if you return this year you will find the Kalkan that you loved 3 years ago is much the same today,
Of course you might see  a few mozzies, dogs on the street and hear a bit of noise if you are near a late night bar. This is a Turkish tourist town, so you would expect to, but its still a fantastic place to visit or live in, so get booking !!!!!

I was talking to a friend who was at the Jandama station yesterday and he said that since they have caught the robber family from Fethiye, break-ins have stopped. Plus I have not  been bitten or seen a mozzie for months.

Hello, I have just read about your concern for staying in Kalkan.  I am just a visitor or three years now and I can honestly say that I have never felt so safe staying in Kalkan, Kisla.  Going out at night I am happy to leave my bag on the table knowing it is safe.  I have never felt the need to hide any valuable items (not like other countries),  and I trust the locals 100% because of how they treat us.  Do not let the odd person or story sway you away from having a fantastic holiday in a dream place.  I am going twice this year and I hope to buy a villa in Kisla, so please re-visit.  You will be delighted.

Thanks to everybody who replied to me re our concerns. We are looking forward to our visit in August. We have never returned so quickly to a place--that Kalkan magic is working well.  Thanks again. Philpot.
