I can''t comment on prices this year as we haven''t been back yet. Last year I''d say the average price of a large Efes was 3.5 to 4 ytl.  Average meal for 2? Well, how long''s a piece of string? It all depends on what type of meal you like. That''s the beauty of Kalkan, there are so many restaurants to choose from, from basic soup-kitchen style(Ali-Babas) where a meal for 2 with a couple of beers costs around 30ytl, to top class like Coast. I suppose average would be around 50-60 ytl (£25 approx) but the food is superb much better than Icmeler or Marmaris. To be honest I don''t think it''s dearer than Icmeler, just better.

Hi Jaylar
In a recent survey Kalkan came out as the third most expensive place in Turkey after a district in Istanbul and one in Antalya
Prices in Icmeler are much cheaper than Kalkan and with a wider choice as Kalkan seems now to really only cater in the main for evening meals with escalating prices - it will be interesting to see if the reduction in KDV on food is passed on to customers
Items such as donner kebabs etc are virtually non existant here whereas if you go to Kas you can have a kebab and soup for some 5.5 YTL complete with a salad and tea !
Visitors tend to equate Kalkan prices as better than those in the UK rather than how they compare with Turkey generally
Food for thought?

Food may be a little more expensive than Hisonaru on the whole, however if you ate at the piano bar or Olive Tree in Hisonaru they would be around Kalkan prices, but the food ,service and ambiance is a million times better. You also can get a nice lunch at the beach clubs at lunchtimes again from cheap to more expensive if you are self catering we freeze bottled water to take to the beach clubs as it is much more expensive than the supermarket and soon adds up if you drink as much as you should . Effes is around the same price.

there is something for every pocket.....ali babas is good wholesome turkish food very cheap(locals use it),Omars is reasonably priced as is the alternatif roof terrace..by and large the waterside restaurants are dearer,as is the towns roof terraces, you are paying for the views and they have high rental  charges..why not go self catering?.Beer is available at a variety of prices..last year the Yali bar was charging 5tl for a large draft beer, but you got another free!so that equates to 2.5 for a large draft..not bad in my book!!Omars was doing Happy hour so his beer that was 3 tl was half price  1.5 tl!!between 6 & 7 P.M..a few others were doing drinks  offers ...Sultan bar. as i said it''s got somethig for everyone...good luck ;)

Hi
Last week a large Efes was 4tl in the Korsan, Kaya, less in Oz Adana, and more in Aubegine and Sofra. It was the same in Olu Deniz, cheaper in Kas and Fethiye and Patara.

Smaller,  much prettier, steeper, cobbles, older, quiter, less bussle, a very different feel, so very much nicer I.M.H.O. Oh and not as pushy. Not as many shops but much better quality that you can look around hassle free, and places to eat sooooooooooooooooo much better.
