Phone calls to home.
« on: May 26, 2010, 12:53:08 PM »
I expect this has been asked many times before but here we go again. Just wondering the cheapest way to ring the UK. Used my pay as you go the past few years but last year ended up spending an absolute fortune. Apart from having a Mam in her eighties who expects a call now and again, last year we had a few crises at home, my old dog had a stroke and had to be put to sleep and my son opened the dining room patio doors and they somehow fell out on to the patio and smashed to bits, what a fab way to start a holiday  :o We ended up spending well above a hundred and fifty quid ringing home to sort everything out, gave up counting after that! I seem to remember being told that it was quite reasonable to ring from the post office and someone mentioning a Turkish sim card. Any advice would be great. Hopefully it'll be less catastrophic this time and I won't need to use the darn phone as much Lol!!

Have always used the post office as my 80 year old mum expects a call every other day ??? Usually chat for around 5 minutes and don't think I've paid any more than 2lira and often less than that

I always use the phone shop on the roundabout next to Omar Sharif's brothers cafe. I have chatted for 5-10 minutes and the cost is rarely over 2 lire.
