New Years Eve in Kalkan
« on: November 01, 2018, 11:13:02 AM »
We are contemplating coming back for New Year and having never done this before, just wanted any info as to whether it would be a good idea? The flights from Manchester to Dalaman by TC are extortionate and Turkish airlines have too long waiting times between connecting flights, however TC to Antalya are half the price so it's looking favourable.

We've been before out of season and know that it's very different to summer, but what is it like over Christmas, New Year? I'm guessing the weather will be pants but I've heard that the vibe on New Years Eve is fab. I've done a search on here but all old posts. Will any of you lot be out over Christmas/New Year  (I know some of you live here too) and what should we expect weather wise? Restaurants open? etc.

Last year the weather was very good both for christmas & NY. NY days weather was just glorious. As younrealise christmas is not celebrated by the locals, some expats go off for a few days eg. Antalya. For those who stay here some of the restaurants do a christmas day meal. NY is different, the locals celebrate it the atmosphere is good, they usually eat with their family first & party later. A lot depends on the weather

Good for you, you will enjoy it, very different but as I said nice atmosphere. Would advise perhaps a hat gloves & scarfe packed just in case it gets windy, as we have had glorious sunshine shine but oh so bitterly cold winds  at the same time.
At the moment the weather here is fab, hot sunny days clear skies, not a jumper to be seen except for the local Turks, evenings obviously cooler but still not as chilly as have known it. Boats are still doing the odd trips, people walking about in T-shirts & shorts, let's hope it stays that way for a bit longer.

We were there last year for NY and thoroughly enjoyed it. Weather was mixed but it’s always going to be in winter. Will def do it again when annual leave isn’t a problem! You’ll neeed to think about booking somewhere for NYE. We chose Aubergine and had a fab time. Slightly jealous!!

Thanks both. PW, we’ve booked aubergine for NYE and got the last 2 slots!
I guess I’m going to have to pack for 4 seasons in one day! Just hope this lovely Indian summer continues. I can’t tell you all how excited we are  :)
