Yipee!

We''re returning to Kalkan a week on Monday (25th May). Previously we took with us a a small amount of Turkish lira and large sum of stirling to exchange when we needed it. This time I''m thinking of taking just enough lira to get us through the first couple of days and maybe Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£500 stirling and then relying on the local ATMs. How do you more frequent visitors arrange your money? Advice appreciated.

Last week we were there I just took enough for the first day and then used the local ATMs a couple of times to top up as and when we needed

Kalkan is very different now for cash machines - the road down to Kalkan from the new road is like bank street! your spoilt for choice!

I would offer a word of warning re the Yapi Credi bank ATM. We used it last Sunday and it apparantly crashed and ate my card. We had to wait until the bank opened the next day and then provided passport proof of identity to get it back. I''''ve been told by a couple of people that this is a regular problem with this particular ATM but not the others. We were going home on the Monday so I was concerned about getting it back urgently. anyway a word to the wise
