It looks really quite bad ( photos on KTLN )     Hope and pray no one has been hurt, first reports say no one hurt, so some good news.
Now just wait for all the "what if's".......as far as I can see (photos) safety is going to be the biggest problem to solve  ???

Lets hope all can be cleared up and made safe as soon as possible.   Dont think its going to be a cheap job to put right  ???
Latest weather report...... Large outbreaks of Efes followed by intermitent spells of vodka and tonic ;-))

I really am not suprised that this has happened. Over the fiteen odd years that we have been holidaying in Kalkan, I have often eyed the fissures on this cliff and wondered when it would fall. Only last month, as we sat under it, my wife and I were talking about the inevetibility of it and how some of the fissures looked wider and deeper. The unsupported overhanging lips are going to have to be made safe soon or there will be a lot more coming down.

Quite scary to think what could have happened, if this occurred during the season, especially as last year we went to the cafe several times, as my daughter enjoyed playing on the beach.

At the time, I did notice the concrete barriers errected behing the cafe and play area and wondered if they would do much stop a rockfall. Clearly not, and it looks like making the area safe will be a huge job.

Thank the Lord that this didn't happen during peak season when people were eating at the cafe and children playing in the park.

Went and had a look at it today..it looks like there is a section that may still fall at the top. They have taped off the area.
It was lucky it happened at night and no-one was hurt.
It will be interesting to see what sort of 'repairs' are carried out.
Anyone know what the plans are yet?

My husband and I walked along the new path last September and I said lets hurry along I dont like the look of the rocks, the wire mesh surrounding the rocks did not seem to be strong anough to support the rocks, we aslo sat on the green seats shown inthe picture, thank goodness it did not happen at a busy time when children and lots of people were around, I dread to think,,

We walked down the track and path in question from Komurluk in May and September last year and were amazed at the State of the cliffs. Also amazed that they were laying a wide track/walkway right underneath it. I Took lots of photos of the fissures and cracks in the rocks and cliffs as I couldn't believe it would survive a winter with lots of rain. Someones head should roll for this!
