Daft as it may sound, it depends if and what you like to drink! Its amazing how much cheaper the evening meals are if you dont have wine or substitute it for efes or similar... Personally I think the wine in Kalkan can be a bit pricey (for what it is)

we buy wine from the supermarket and drink it before we go out(mrs L adds a dash of sprite),We also keep a bottle of house white opened in the Kaya for mrs Lizard..i stick to Efes anyway when out. We tend to eat in quite a lot ....half the time if we have eaten during the day(snacks/ice cream) we don't feel we can do justice to a large meal....so it's salads and chicken etc ...you can live as cheaply as you please just like home...also shop around because the basics are cheaper in some supermarkets we found Sevil cheaper for everyday things..but they don't sell alcohol ...usually one of the markets has a deal on plonk...if you eat out everynight it will son gobble up your lira if you are in the fancier roof top restaurants or harbour side foodies ;)
People Of Britain.. When your missus asks "Does my bum look big in this? Never say "Dunno your blocking the light."... just sayin ????

Hi there, Exchange of cash in Kalkan is very easy and you tend to get a better rate than in the UK, certainly better than using a credit/debit card. Also, UK Sterling is often accepted for things like car hire, excursions etc which can sometimes be negotiated down even more. Hope this helps too.

also depends if bag shopping is involved...... ;)
We tend to budget for £100 per day when there's the two of us (not including transfers, trips and bag shopping) and have always taken money home...with price rises in Kalkan it might not be the case this year. You can still have a fabulous holiday on a smaller budget, and undoubtedly there'll be people who will budget for more than this.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Hi,
We use a Post Office Credit Card to pay for meals etc. as there is no commission and you get very good exchange rates.  We also take sterling and exchange it there - much better rates than in UK.  I think Nationwide also do a commission free Credit Card.

Regards
Tyros
