£1,500 will be more than enough for good meals a good few trips, days on the beach clubs, shopping, you could manage on at least £500 less.

£1,500 to £2,000 would be more than enough to ensure you have a great time....

We go to Kalkan a number of times each year and usually spend about £25 a head a day for eating, drinking and petrol. We eat lunch or dinner out every day, and sometimes both, but make the other meals in the apartment. We also drink a class or two of duty free at the apartment before we go out and when we return after dinner so it reduces the cost of drinks when we are out.

We eat in the range of restaurants, from cheap places like Ali Babas to the expensive harbour restaurants and enjoy the variety. You could of course spend a lot more if you want to eat at the high end each day and drink lots of wine and imported spirits. This doesn''t include ant trips out as we have a car.

Hi,

Best advice is to use your Nationwide Debit card in Turkey to withdraw cash from your account as you need it. From memory when we were there in February could withdraw approx. TRY 600/day from any of the cash machines in Kalkan or Kas. Don''t like carrying large amounts of cash on holidays and again used same card to pay for meals out etc. Excellent exchange rate and no fees. Comparisons with Lloyds cards and Natwest cards was that TRY600 cost £12 more (£266 v £254) than Nationwide card. Lack of fee on Nationwide card also made it very economical with smaller transactions.

Costs vary depending on where and how often you eat out. The £20 to £30/day sounds about right if you don''t want to be self catering all the time.
