hiring motor bike ?

HI every one ,  i am hoping to go for week holiday to kalkan , i was wondering if you can hire motorbike there to go around ? and is it safe as well ? thank you .

you can hire scooters/mopeds in Kalkan..personally i wouldn''t bother...the roads are lumpy, bumpy and on occasion when hosed down slippery....stick to the dolmus it''s cheap and safe..i believe there are also issues with insurance cover if you have travel insurance..eg they won''t pay out for treatment etc

I am with Blue Lizard on this one. Last year a family member decided it would be a good idea to hire a moped. He then had the misfortune to come a cropper and broke his leg! Spent the rest of the holiday with his leg in plaster and on crutches.

Think you will find that most Travel Insurance will not cover for the use of scooters/motor bikes and at the present time the roads in Kalkan are really not good enough for anyone not familiar with them to be riding such vehicles, best be safe than sorry and stick to the legs or as stated the dolmus.

As a keen motorcyclist I am aware of the dangers and venerability when on UK roads. It amazes me that people who do not ride scooters / motorcylces at home think they will be perfectly safe whilst riding on the opposite side of the road, in country they don''t know, with traffic that is somewhat random.
I would think twice about hiring a scooter if you are not experienced.

I think there is a tour company in Fethiye that will hire Harleys and have a group ride out - This is more tempting.

I agree bluefudge,
whilst we were there one of our local neighbours also had a bad accident on a scooter, and he presumably knew the roads! I just think it is too dangerous.
