Has Building Work Started Early [again] ??
« on: October 16, 2008, 04:51:54 PM »
Has anyone any idea why we have the noise from the excavator which seems to be making a new road into La Vanta some 3 weeks before the building season starts
It is really intrusive as it resounds all over Kalmar and probably Kalkan as well
Or is the case that it is situated in Yesilkoy which won''t have any building restriction?
Any ideas??

It;s not only in kalkan where they build roads.

If you go to Australia they might be building a road there, and that would probably be noisy too. Wherever they build roads, they have to use some noisy machinery.

Yesalkoy isn''t even in kalkan so who cares if la vanta isn''t there

Yeah but in Australia - the road building is liable to be miles and miles from the nearest sheep let alone human.. and the back of his garden! :o :o

Why not contact the builders or the Town Hall and ask them?

I thought roadbuilding was exempt from the restrictions on when building work can be carried out...hence the "new road" was constructed throughout the entire summer season this year?
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Not sure if the road at la vanta is a new road, new roads may not be not excempt outside of the season but they could not be not excempt inside of the out season. If this is the season then excemption during the out season probably doesn''t not apply, but with the out season only a couple of weeks away at the end of the season, excemption probably won''t not apply as there''s no excemption during the season. non application of the excemption during the out season should mean an application of the excemption during the season, but apparantly it doesn''t, that''s why the new road was not excempt from the application during the season.
That''s what my OH reckons anyway, and he loves the new road

he''s never been to la vanta,
but now he knows they''ve got a new road he''s bound to want to.

Don''t think that this is anything to do with the "new road" - it just seems to be a road to the site

No you''re right kevincat99, it''s not the new road but it sounds like a new new road. La vanta is up near the new road, so perhaps the new new road will join the new road, unless they decide to build a newer access road to join the new new road to the new road.

kalkan4eva,

No exemption required for the new road as it is a Government project. It was obviously necessary to continue work during the summer to complete important works before the rains started. This work (the last kilometre) had to be completed in dry weather and they finished the short cental reservation (which diverts flash flood water) just in time: a week later and there would have been serious flooding to at least 5 villas. I think the planning was just about perfect and the noise annoyance minimal, but then I''m used to having 20 or so excavators ''tapping'' away from 0700 to 2200 every day from 1 Nov to 1 May.

Does anyone know if the new road or a replacement road will be extended along from the bus station opast the Jandarme?  I heard on Sept that they were going to be digging the road up to lay new and larger water pipes.

My apartment in Begonvil opposite the Jandarme. I was considering flying out for xmas/new year but won''t if the road will be dug up!

Would appreciate any information.
thanks, Lynn

I do hope this is not going to turn into another "New Road" saga.
(Although I do appreciate your concerns Lynn)

Yes it will extend past the Jandama, they have been using a machine just off the new road for about 3 weeks now.

We went up to La Vanta site late September to have a nosey around. 1st phase is now scheduled for Feb/March 09. The access road from the main highway to the La Vanta site was being worked on by an excavator with breaker attachment. This (the noise) continued until 10pm on a few nights right up to the time we left.

Well folks its another gorgeous morning in Kalkan. The Sun is climbing into a cloudless azure sky, and the only peckers I can hear are a few birds gently chirping in the hills behind us. It is so, so peaceful. For me, undoubtedly the best time of year to be here.

Today I think I will do precisely nothing. Nothing at all. ;D
