Guide Books
« on: June 15, 2011, 03:23:02 PM »
Hi all

can you buy a guide book on the Lycian sites, I dont usually go on guided tours but prefer to make my own way to sites as sometimes I like to spend a few hours at a site.
I have looked on the internet for site maps but cannot see any.
Last year when I went to see Priene militos etc. I could buy a guide book with all the sites In them including site  maps
cheers for any help

You can buy books through KTLN's trust store if you wanted something before you go.

Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

The local book shop sells a guide called The Road to Ruins by Tricia Emptage - good descriptions of all the Lycian sites between Fethiye and Kas (but no maps).

I bought a very good book on all the Lycian sites when visiting Arykanda, it also has plans of some of the sites but not all of them, its called Lycia and written by Cevdet Bayburtluoglu. I think I may have seen it in Desti giftshop but I can't be certain, next time I pass I will look.

I bought a book called Arykanda by Cevet Bayburtluoglu (same author as previous post) . It is an excellent guide to that site but no other. Incidently, Arykanda while being quite a long way away, is a fantastic site and well worth the drive. The grand kids love it and we take a picnic.
