Overnight accommodation at Dalaman
« on: January 28, 2018, 03:10:52 PM »
We have guests this summer who are looking for somewhere to stay overnight near Dalaman airport when they arrive.   They are travelling with an elderly relative and would like to break the journey in this way.

Anyone stayed anywhere near the airport for one night?   Any recommendations gratefully received.

Dalaman Lykia hotel is just 10mins drive from the airport, abit lacklustre but comfortable room & breakfast good. Its location is just off the main road from the airport.

Many thanks DRBD, I will pass this on to our guests.   They will be getting transfers the next day to Kalkan which could pick them up from the hotel.   Presumably the simplest thing for them at the airport is just to pick up one of the taxis.

Would  think so, not aware of any other transport unless anyone else knows better. If the hotel is booked prior maybe they have a pick up service.

Thank you for that thought.   I will suggest our guests ask the hotel if they do have a pick up service.   As a non driver I always like to have a transfer of some sort awaiting me after a flight.

It is impressive that a forum member was able to help over this query of accommodation and so quickly!   I do appreciate it.   I try to be as helpful to guests as possible but there are always some things I haven't needed myself so don't know the answer.

I am tempted to try the hotel myself if I end up with silly time flights.   It seems that more flights these days are at inconvenient times.

We have used the Lykia hotel on the airport road several times when we have had an early departure. Check prices on a few of the booking sites (Booking.com/last minute.com/ etc as prices can vary. Wifi in the room and breakfast starts at 7am. Clean tidy rooms.

Many thanks again for help on this.   I have passed the information to our guests and they have now booked their flights, arriving Dalaman 9 p.m., and also booked to stay the night at the Dalaman Lykia hotel so will be able to rest before continuing at leisure the next day to Kalkan.

Is Booking.Com back up in Turkey...? I know they took it down last year. Another option is to stay in Goceck - just 30 mins from the airport.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Thanks for the Goceck idea kalkan4eva.   Our guests with the query are now sorted with the Dalaman Lykia very close to the airport but I will bear Goceck in mind.  Could try it ourselves some time.

Thanks Rookie.   I will pass that on to the guests.   I have always had pre-arranged transfers from Dalaman to Kalkan so haven't experienced the cost of taxis at the airport.
