October flights
« on: October 13, 2009, 06:57:17 PM »
 :'(Please help
We have decided that we would like to squeeze a late week to Kalkan (October half-term), and have been horrified at the flight only prices. Newcastle to Dalaman over £400 each TC or Easyjet Gatwick flights £600 EACH. There seems to be lots of availability but these prices are just ridiculous.
I know you get the best prices when booking early but we quite often decide at the last minute and we always fly during school holidays. We usually pay about £250.
Has anyone got any advice/good websites etc to try because I will be so disappointed if we don't manage to book anything.

I think you have left it late for a cheap deal. If you want to go that badly you're going to have to cough up a fair bit of money to travel.
Nothing is really work unless you would rather be doing something else.

Maddie - are you looking at Fly Thomas Cook?  They are currently showing Newcastle to Dalaman for £347 on the evening of Fri 26 Oct or £249 on the morning of Mon 26th (if those are your half term dates)

I check out www.skyscanner.net to see what's available....but half terms are invariably more expensive times to fly - trust me, i'm an expert!

Just had another look at FTC Its 374 plus 16 for cases =£390 to go friday 23rd for the week.

I suppose that is going to be the best I can get. I just get so cheesed off at the way prices are always hiked in school holidays. We have always paid premium prices for school holidays but this is beyond a joke. Who can blame parents for taking holidays in term time. I know I would have, given the chance. Oh well, rant over, pour the wine and get out the credit card.

I love logging on and reading all the latest news.I have visited Kalkan for years now and hope one day I will be able to help someone else with some information

I can see why some people book cheapest b and b deal and just dont go to the accommodation, seems a better option that way

maddie, if you can go on monday 26th for the week (comes back 2nd Nov), its coming up at £220 + £16 for your baggage with TC. £236 not bad?

jet2 are flying from Ncle to Dalaman next summer - we got early and got returns for the last week in June/first in july for about £180 each, which I didn't think was bad. Plus you get 22kgs of luggage with jet2 - yayyy! The prices have gone up now, but if you fancied any time next year, they might be worth a look.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for all the tips, unfortunately for us Jet 2 has f
Friday day time flights and we are teaching till 4, so no good. Same problem with 26th, we don't return till the Monday when we are back to work. It is just not possible for us to have any flexibility at all. I manage Behaviour Support and OH works in a PRU (excluded children), so not easy to arrange cover.
We are just watching Watchdog where Centre Parcs costs 300% more in school holidays, £1,700 for 4nights self catering and extra for activities. My goodness, Kalkan and TC is a bargain by comparison and I know where I would rather be. No contest.

When I went on they were only offering £364 return as they are still, perhaps need to delete my cookies and try again.

I also have the same problem - I try to book seperate flights and get a better deal sometimes, in fact I saw last night the flight I am coming in on Friday 23rd has come down £100 to only £40 (LGW-ONUR).

Good Luck!

Well, I tried to do that, have managed to book seats out  on Friday 23rd but I suspect we may be coming back 'by any means'. There is availability still but TC are packaging the remaining flights into holidays and won't sell us a return. Fingers crossed.

Sorted. We have just booked return flights from Antalya to Newcastle. Longer transfer I know but still better than a long trip in the UK from Glasgow or such. Just need a Villa now. Walking distance to Kalkan, 3 beds, Wi-FI.........any ideas........... Can't wait.
