local transport - Kalamar/Town dolmus
« on: June 04, 2013, 10:11:02 AM »
Hi there,

noticed on another forum mention of the Kalamar/town dolmus disappearing. Been a couple of years since visited Kalkan: the little bus had just been introduced.. Has this been cancelled now?.. Anyone know? We're staying out at Kalamar in a villa so no hotel transport into town ..shame if the bus has gone

many thanks for any help

Have I picked this up correctly ..as well as no Kalamar dolmus, now heard that the only way to get out of Kalkan to Kas or Patara etc is by going to bus station....(or of course taxis) and that there aren't any dolmuses across from the taxi rank anymore? Surely that can't be right? They were always full!

You can walk out of town on the Gempa Road and onto the D400, you will find a bus shelter where the Kas service will stop after leaving the bus station.Just need to wave it down.So you can get to Kapatas and Kas without going to the bus station if you are staying the other end of town.

It's only a 15 min walk from Kalamar Bay into town, good bit of exercise to help burn off the calories after eating all that lovely food served up at the fantastic restaurants  ;)  8) ;)  also there are more & more good restaurants / bars on the Kalamar Road if you don't fancy the walk into town everyday / night.

Enjoy your holiday.

So, does that mean that if we want to get the dolmus to Patara we have to go up to the us station now instead of opposite the taxis?

janeandady, it doesn't look like the Patara bus from near the taxi rank is running.....we've passed on a few occasions at different times of the day and there's no boards or sign of any buses. We went into the bus station today and there are buses to Patara from here but again didn't see the dolmus. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to let you know....
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)
