Flights to Antalya
« on: September 03, 2008, 12:02:10 PM »
We are visiting Kalkan at the beginning of next month and flights seem quite a bit cheaper from Antalya but we have always used Dalaman.

Has anyone used Antalya?  How long does the transfer really take - is it worth having the longer transfer for the cheaper cost or not really?

Would Adda deliver a car to Antalya and what is the drive like?

Looking forward to your replies.

Thanks.
K

Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

I have driven from Kas to Kemer/Olympus. This took about three hours, add another 30minutes for the Kalkan to Kas part of the journey and then probably another one hour for Kemer to the Airport. So all in all I reckon it would take you the best part of five hours. The journey is simple enough, though I do believe that Antalya Airport is to the east of the city, so you would have to negotiate your way through it. Parts of the journey are very spectacular and other parts are very boring.

turkeyfan - I have used Antalya and if you go across country (via Elmali and Korkuteli) it is much quicker than going around the coast - should be no more than 3 hours to Antalya airport which as Pete says is on the far side of the city - but it is not that difficult to negotiate.  Trouble is - the cost of the transfers - so you have to weigh up the extra time and the extra transfer cost and then decide if the saving is worth it...personally speaking - the flights would have to be a LOT cheaper for me to think it worthwhile.

The drive across country is twisty turny to start with then long and flat across the plains at the top and then twisty turny again as you descend down towards Kalkan - but it is a fine drive (as is the coastal drive) - I can''t see why Adda wouldnt deliver a car - its all down to price at the end of the day!  :D

Cheers!

As far as I can remember they charge £50 delivery on the car to Antalya airport.  You could email them on info@addatours.com for clarification.  We have also used them for a transfer and the time was just under 3 hrs, direct to Kalkan via the mountain road as detailed by Felicity.

Sorry, I should have made it clear that I was talking about the coastal route.

Hi
I have driven both routes a couple of times. The mountain route is lovely, and about 2.5-3 hours. The coast route is about 3-3.5 hours, and has beautiful scenery.
Try to miss Antalya in the afternoon rush hour!

I can also confirm that the journey is around 3 -3.5 hours, depending on traffic through Antalya itself. It is a spectacularly beautiful drive though!
