Turkish Delight
« on: September 13, 2012, 04:23:56 PM »
I have just discovered that there is to be a TV programme on Turkish cuisine on the Good Food Channel, Sundays - Thursdays from 16th September 10 p.m.   It is a 10 part programme called "Turkish Delight" with Allegra McEvedy.  She will be going to different parts of Turkey I believe.

All being well I should be in Kalkan for the first episode but it will get recorded (technology permitting) in my absence.

Only four sleeps to go before setting off to the airport - although as we all know if you have an earlyish flight then it is really only three and half sleeps.

Nearly packed now.............

The series looks really good - it says that it is part recipes and part travelogue, visiting Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya and a host of other places including villages. Allegra McEvedy has a good style too so should definitely be worth watching.

sadly I will not need to set my Sky+ for this programme and will be watching from my sofa with a fleecy blanket :(
Far too many sleeps till my next visit to even contemplate....
Thanks for letting us know TL :)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Have a great time Tortoise lady we came back on Monday after our ninth visit and as usual had a fantastic time and was very sad to leave behind our lovely Turkish friends, feeling a little melancholy at the moment. Enjoy yourself and have an Efes for us here in gloomy Wales. Cheers!

Thanks tortoise lady for the info. Like K4E, I will be watching snuggled in my blanky too, with only a wintery weekend in Dublin to look forward to before we can taste Turkish food on Turkish soil again.  :'( I hope all you lucky people who are visiting in the near future have wonderful holidays and make the most of your time there. Not wishing my time away or anything but roll on next summer!!!!  :)

Yes, I will definitely raise a glass to Forum folks next week in Kalkan.   The Turkish Delight programme sounds as if it will be good and I will look forward to watching it on my return - when I will be making plans for my next visit and listing all the restaurants I just must try to fit in.   Never enough time to go to all the ones I want to.

Am enjoying the cookery travelogue on good food chanel(sky247)..very interesting and Allegra certainly has a passion for food along with a healthy appetite..and iv'e found her very entertaining. I'm going to do her chicken guvec recipe...not sure she was wise walking around the spice market in Istanbul with what appeared to be the mitchell brothers poking out of the top of her T shirt :o ..
next one tonight 10pm shes in the Ephesus area cooking lamb stew..mmmm!
