Russian Estate Agents

Do you know of any Russian Estate Agents who specialise in Turkey? If the UK populace aren't buying the Russians seem to be!

I believe that all charter flights between Russia and Turkey have been banned by Pres. Putin.

Property Overseas agent in Kalkan sold some villas to Russians a year ago when Russians were still coming and buying.  He showed our villa to a Russian family. I think now they are neither coming nor buying.

Few notes about russian customers and politic situation

1. Russia Ruble exchange rate - since 2014 it felt down twice. From 32rub for 1usd to 75 rub/1usd.   15rub/1TL in 2013 to 25rub/1Tl in 2016.    Salary and estate prices in Russia that nominates in rubles are still the same.

2. Goverment and hi-level persons with goverment contracts (e.g. in Oil/military/mining companies) have directives to sell all their foreign property and close all accounts in western banks. Some one trying to hide it, but it can cost them their career.

3. Since 2016 Russia abolished the visa-free regime with Turkey. Last few years Russian was able to stay in Turkey up to  60 days without any visa.  Russians hate to get any visa.

4. Everybody in Russia angered the Turkish act of aggression, when the Turkish fighter jet shot down a Russian military aircraft in Syria. It was a "stab in the back" by the "allies" and "partners".  So, any deal with turkey now seems like very unpatriotic.

5. Everybody in Russia understand that current political course of Erdogan regime have no chance to deal with Russia. So, situation will be worse, Russia will help to create Kurdistan republic and keep Syria independent.  With all stuff that happen last days in Saudi and Iran we are in the beginning of big war. Nobody want to buy a house in 600km from full-scale war.

What can change the situation:

1. If Erdogan will be replaced by more pragmatic and far-sighted politician.
2. Iran/Saudi will block oil supply to the west, so oil prices will rise to $100+ level

Both options are unrealistic for next few years.

I doubt you would find many Russians that would agree with that. Also the Greek military reported 1443 intrusions into their airspace by Turkish planes in the first 10 months of 2015, perhaps you think these should have all been shot down as well.

Hard to see what benefit Turkey thought would come from doing this, so far it has lost its second biggest source of tourists, plus faces other economic sanctions that will cost it billions and made an enemy of Putin. It's also one more thing that will make people from the UK think twice about holidaying or buying property in Turkey.

I cant deny that the political situation between turkey and various countries,eg Syria,Russia will have an impact on the flow of tourists into turkey for the foreseeable future.

However,i am sure that, like so many others,we so look forward to our visits to Kalkan for our well deserved holidays. Also, from the point of view or our rental capacity for this year,we are well on the way to being fully booked....so lets hope for an excellent and successful year for Kalkan.

Am sure the large community of Russian residents living in & around Antalya are not rushing to sell their properties & rushing back to their homeland. From friends spending the NY in Antalya it seems the Russians were having a great time. Apologies Wendy this has certainly gone off piste ...... perhaps try Antalya estate agents.

re " Everybody in Russia angered the Turkish act of aggression"    a lot of people do not see it as an act of aggression but more an act of defence  and have every right to protect their air space

Russian Air Force was on a mission in Syria, at the invitation of the Syrian government and under UN mandate. All the targets were inside Syrian territory. The plane was in Syrian airspace.  Turkish fighter aircraft flew into Syrian airspace and fired a missile over Syria. Russian bombers dropped over the territory of Syria. Statements by the Turkish Air Force of the Russian plane that flew into their airspace to "15" seconds (just think, 15 seconds) is not supported by any evidence. But most importantly, we believed that Turks are Russian friends and allies, and got hit in the back. I do not mention the fact that Turkish citizen (one of "rebels" or how we call them "terrorist") shot the Russian pilot when he ejected.
Now whole airspace over east mediterranian is fully controlled by Russian C-400 surface-to-air antiaircraft unit. Lession learned.

I think all the developments are worrying in the Middle East and appear to be pressure cooking to something big as satovod says....this and today's dreadful act of terrorism near the Blue Mosque in Istanbul will undoubtedly affect tourism in Turkey. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families....we live in a volatile world. Although we do have some concerns this year, we will still be in Kalkan in June and looking forward to our slightly longer trip thanks to Monarch cancelling our outbound flights ::)
I don't think anywhere can be deemed absolutely "safe" so unless we stay in our home for the foreseeable future we will be taking our chances and hoping for the best.
Wendy, do you have an option to take your property off the market until things improve? I can't think of a more difficult time to try and sell :(. We noticed there were a number of Iranians holidaying in Kalkan a couple of seasons ago if that helps..?
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

We could take it off the market but I don't think that would make any difference. We are selling because we want to buy somewhere in Spain instead where we can drive to with the dogs and spend the winter out of the UK. If it sells it sells if not we will rent in Spain - either way next winter I am going south!!

Monthly rents in Spain are cheap and abundant.  And if you want warm weather, the Costa del Sol area has enjoyed 17 - 19 degrees every day since about 2 months and with little (too little) rain.

Hi Cossetta,
Bliss - since October it has been grey, wet, windy grim here in the UK. Very little sun or even dry days. Although I appreciate that Spain needs the rain.
We have just booked a week in Monda in June. My friend has an apartment on her finca and we will go there after we come back from Kalkan. http://www.finca-arteysentimiento.com/
Next winter then we will drive down along with the dogs and rent for four months.
xx

Monda and Guero are both nice areas, great for hill walking and hiking.  And it's now time for the almond blossom run.  Also not far from the coast, good location.  So warm today that we played tennis in summer clothes and I was still hot!
