Hi every one

just getting organised for this years trip a week to day exactly,just wondering what is the exchange rate you are getting in kalakn I do not have a nationwide card so i normally chage my sterling in the places in town "Shops bar and even jewlers " who seem to offer a better rate than what we can get back home.

You will find the rate 'on the street' in Kalkan town on the home page of KTLN - right hand side.

The shops featured have a special KTLN log in, which enables them to update their rates, in real time.

I have been keeping an eye on that page in KLTN and it seems to be updated rarely-I have only seen one change in about the last 3 weeks. If it is correct today the best rate listed is 2.3 and I can get 2.32 on the internet here today from bestforeignexchange.com. Have used them to get us started and found the service excellent. Any update about the rate in time would be appreciated though. If it is not better I may splash out on a bit more before we leave!

I went into town and the rates shown on KTLN are correct. Admittedly, we do rely on the shops to update the figures themselves, but as of now, they are right.

Now I dont know what to do!! 2.323 freely available on the internet today including delivery to my home address. I thought it was better to exchange your money in Kalkan. Have things changed?? Probably only means I get an extra 5p anyway!! Will the 2.3 advertised on KLTN today include commission and/or charges etc? Any advice appreciated. 6 days to go-yippee!!

We got back 3 days ago and got an ER of 2.3 for the whole of our 18 day holiday. We never paid any commission, changing it up at Iinfinity Jewellers or Turkcell on the Tesco roundabout.The good thing is you have the flexibility to change various amounts of money and not pay commission at all, let alone on a sliding scale. So we could top up with the odd Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£40 near the end and not be penalised.

That's a great tip Antler, wouldn't have occured to me to go to Turkcell or the Jewellers even if they have a board up outside ... would have assumed they were more expensive than the Post Office / banks.

And to be really sad, the difference between 2.3 and 2.323 is Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£10 on Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£1000, which is a little bonus, but would be eaten away if you had to change the money back up, I guess - not wanting to save it for the next Kalkan holiday?!

But dont think my 3 teens (and pre teens)are going to be any less expensive than your 2 so am guessing that there will be very very little coming back with us! Even without the alcohol as the oldest in only 14!!!

Am guessing Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£1000 will only be a starting amount for a fortnight so I think I may be safe to invest in a little more before I go and then change bits for the last few days as we go along,

Wave as you pass jn 2 on M180 on your way to Grimsby cos that's just near where I live! Have enjoyed all the reports and copied and pasted chunks onto a word document and printed it out to take with me-my family think I am nuts!
