Hi all.
I wondered if you could give me some suggestions for 2 bedroomed self-catering apartments or possibly villas for 4 adults.

Have been to Kalkan twice before, stayed at the Samira, and thinking of coming back mid-August with my parents (their first visit, for mums 60th). The Samira's apts aren't big enough, I would like somewhere with a bit of space indoor and out so we can have nights in/BBQs, within walking distance (10 mins) of town. Have looked at a selection of villas but they are too expensive, I'm thinking under Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£1000 for 2 weeks - or am I dreaming!?

Sorry for being lazy but off to Thailand in a couple of weeks so busy sorting that and don't have time to spend hours of leg-work on this too, worried everywhere will be fully booked soon.

Samira have apartments independent of their hotel/apartment block. They are spacious 3 bedroomed apartements set on the road just behind the main complex. Theree are four apts in the block and they have a shared swimming pool. I viewed them when they were first built and the quality and fittings were excellent. Email the Samira directly for info, if you haven't got an email address come back to me and I'll send you a pm. From memory Fidimax has stayed in these apartments so I'm sure he'll be along soon and give you more info.

Correct Charlie,I have stayed in the 3 bed samira apts,and they are very nice,the two on the first floor have a pretty big balcony,and a biggish roof terrace,great views,the 2 on the ground floor are just a little bigger and have the pool just of the terrace.
the last 2 years I got the top floor apt for Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£80-90 for a week at the end of may with thomas cook,dont seem to do them this year,but they are on owners direct for Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£370 for the first week in june,so I wont be using them this year !
Have you looked at truffles,next to the samira,or if you fancy a small villa take a look at villa Yasmin,Its 2 bed, and just up passed the Nur,and its a good price.

Fidimax if they are on owners direct now they must be privately owned? Perhaps the Samira have sold them on - that was their intention initially when they built them. Truffles apts are much more expensive.

Thanks both for your replies, I wonder if they are now privately owned as no mention of them on the Samira group website, I found a separate Samira villas website but that's for buying them rather than renting. Sounds like you got a fantastic price originally Fidimax, will look at your other suggestions!

Have a look at Dere development apartments/villas - they are literally 2 mins from the Old Town, but have amazing views of the harbour. We stayed in Sahane Penthouse apartment last year - which had 3 bedrooms -but others within the complex were two bedroomed and possibly within your budget. Emir are fairly central and have lots of two-bedroomed apartments, but can't vouch for how spacious they might be. There are a couple of companies advertising on holiday lettings and Owners Direct- such as Truffle and Turquoise Collection so perhaps the word "owner" is only loosely applied

The 4 three bed apts at the Samira are owned by the Samira the contact is
Mustafa,not sure if its the father or the son,they are still on the t/c site but I cant get to look at the price,so t/c probably dont do them anymore.

Thanks to a couple of you for mentioning Owners Direct, spent a few of hours trawling through it last night and there are about 8 places that fit the bill and have availability, so will pass them onto the parents and see what they think. Found the Samira ones on there too and it has the contacts (thanks Roxie, I may mention that I'm a previous customer if they make it to the shortlist), they work out at Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£850 so are a possibility.
Kalkan4eva, the Sahane etc look gorgeous, but booked up for when we wanted - will keep them in mind for future visits!
Thanks again, some great help and suggestions.

PS - looked at the Truffle Residence and realised that on our first stay in 2006 it was a derelict old building right next to our room, it creeped me out a slightly at night!

We have progress, narrowed it down to 2 and just trying to work out locations.
The first is Tekeeli (http://www.kalkantekeeli.com/) which I believe is up across the main Kas road, here's the other - can you please help me figure out where it is, is it near Samira Gardens or higher up and further along? It's on a complex with 5 pools.

The one that is on the complex with 5 pools looks like the Mediterranean (sp?)Apts..located just behind the samira gardens..nicely laid out,and couple of mins walk through little track and car park brings you out by the Taxi rank top of the village

Both look a lot higher up. Samira Gardens is beside the car park in town. Samira Deluxe is above the D400. These both seem to be well above it. You would have a good walk to town. However, I like it in this area and there are lovely views and it is cooler at night.

Roxie, my initial thoughts were that it looked high and the town view pic looks further back, but the pic of the harbour from the balcony looks a lot further down. Hmmm, will have another look at Google maps!

Lancs lass, the Mediteranean Apts that BL mentions are actually quite close to town, as he says. We've looked at them a few times because their location is really central, but at the risk of sounding like a member of the Royle family, we need a TV and none of the apatments for rent seem to have them. We've passed the complex loads of times when we've gone off on one of our walks and it does look lovely. Anything the other side of the Kas Road may not be as accessible because of the road widening/lack of crossings - have a look on www.turkishlocalnews.com for the latest updates on the road situation, which may help you make up your mind. I stayed in the Med penthouse last year,great apt with great veiws over the harbour,the roof terrace is brill,my wife never left it,there is a small pool jusy below the apt,no tv but every thing else you need,you can get to the apt from Kalamar rd,first turning on the left,after Omar Sherifs place or you can cut across the car park,plenty big enough for 4 per,but you might struggle for space with any more people.its 2 min max from BBQ,Ali Babas ect,I would stay at this apt again,no problem,loved it and so did the missus.

Ha ha, Kalkan4Eva that xmas special of the Royle Family was great, especially the One Show theme tune!! Thanks fidimax, Yasmin isn't available for the full fortnight but think the Med apt ticks all the boxes (except for TV, but that balcony and terrace are more appealing), just looking into flights now.

. My BH brings a hard-drive media player and when we have a "staying in night", we'll usually put on a film. Plus, I'm quite sad and like to see BBC News wherever we are in the world...not only a tv, but it has to have satellite too

I'm sure you'll like the Med Apartments - great location! Good luck sourcing your flights. jet2 seem to be very reasonable if you're close to a carrier airport.
